Lukas Orsanic

Lukas Orsanic is a contemporary painter, he has recently graduated from RMIT Fine Art (Hons) program, he draws from a broad range of artistic influence: from Lee Ufan, to Ellsworth Kelly, and artists of the Optical Art Movement.

Contrasting hard and soft edge abstractions, the optically charged colour compositions of Orsanic’s work intend to activate and engage the viewers perceptual systems, inviting them to become an active participant.

Through process-based and intuitive approaches, his practice negotiates the perceptual energies of colour, whilst exploring paintings’ duration and time spent looking.  The method of installation negotiates paintings’ figure-ground relationship with the wall, engaging the ‘space in-between’ as integral to the work.
